It's raining here

Tuesday has been a cloudy, rainy day in Xian.

We went to the Shaanxi History Museum. It was pretty interesting. We have to keep in mind Chinese culture goes back thousands of years, so we got just a taste of it. Jake did pretty well through most of it, but it wasn't exactly the thing for a 2-year-old.

Then, we went to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a Buddhist temple. However, it was raining pretty hard then and Jake was pretty cranky (it was close to nap time) so we cut the visit short.

We found out Monday they will not let us go to the orphanage. The officials at civil affairs said the only orphanage in Shaanxi Province they will allow foreigners to visit is the one in Xian. That was a disappointment, but what can you do?

Well, enough about that. Here are some more pics.

This is one at civil affairs Monday. Obviously, you see Jacob, Violet and me. On the left is the orphanage director, Zhang Yonghui. Next to him is the nanny who came with them when they brought Jacob to us. They wanted to get a picture of all of us, so we had Kelly, our guide, take one, too.

He sometime has to have things just so. Here, he has a couple of bottles, his Cheerios holder and his horse flashlight just how he wants them. It took a couple of tries before he had them organized to his satisfaction.

Now here are just some random pictures from Monday.

We skipped the museum and the Pagoda, and spent more time strolling on the City Wall on our day of touring . . . Our guide said that the lines on the weekends are crazy long and that's when we were thinking of going. Are you going to hit the dumpling restaurant? I highly recommend the dumpling banquet they offer - it's so fun and quite an experience to write home about!

Love the smiles - he's got very bright eyes, too! Have fun with him!!!!

What a handsome little boy you have!! I'm sorry you couldn't make it to the orphanage. I am so glad you are having fun in Xi'an. I was there for 10 days and can't wait to go back!!

Hey that snack trap looks familiar! :) I'd say by the way he lined up his treasures that you may have lots and lots of Legos in your future.

Just look at all those smiles - I suspect the two of you must be wearing big smiles too! I couldn't be happier for the 3 of you!

Don't feel bad it's been cloudy and rainy in Oklahoma also. He is so handsome. I can hardly wait to see him in person.

What adorable pictures of Jacob. That smile is too sweet. We haven't gotten to the smiling stage yet. We still cry ALLLLLLL day. She really misses her Mama. I'm glad ya'll had a good time at the musieum. We get to go to ours on Friday. I'm really ready to go to Guangzhou. This place is so cold and our room doesn't have any heat. No air and no heat in these hotels are killing me.

See you GZ,
